In 2022 the European Darts Matchplay became the first big darts event to take place in Rhineland-Palatinate. The “Arena Trier” is the fourth location of the event after Innsbruck, Hamburg and Mannheim.

Last year Luke Humphries defeated Austrian Rowby-John Rodriguez 8-7 in a heart-stopping final.
