The European Darts Championship will take place in Oberhausen in 2020

October 2, 2020 ,

In view of the current restrictions and conditions, the European Darts Championship will now not take place this year at the Westfalenhalle, Dortmund as planned.

However, the event will not be cancelled, but will now take place from October 29 – November 1 at the König-Pilsener-ARENA in Oberhausen, which is only a few kilometers away from Dortmund. The König-Pilsener-ARENA has an approved seating plan, which allows for more than 2000 fans per session.

We regret the relocation, but we have made every effort to continue to hold the event in the Ruhr area to give previous ticket holders the opportunity to participate after all. Those who wish to do so must exchange their previous tickets for new tickets in Oberhausen via the voucher rule. Due to the changed seating and venue plan, this unfortunately cannot be organized any differently. Tickets will be going on sale tonight.

“The restrictions in Dortmund would simply have been too high for a TV event of this size. The number of spectators would have had to be massively limited and, in addition, the restrictions on site would have significantly clouded the experience for the fans. It was very important for us to find a new location for the event that is also easy to reach for ticket buyers from and around Dortmund and we are happy that we succeeded in this with the König-Pilsener-ARENA in Oberhausen,” says Werner von Moltke, head of PDC Europe.

At the European Darts Championship the 32 best players of the European Tour, which consists of four events this year, will play for a total of £500,000 in prize money. Rob Cross, the 2018 World Champion, will enter the event as defending champion.

Ticket holders can have their tickets converted into a voucher and use it for any PDC Europe event this year or next. Otherwise, the tickets will remain valid for the 2021 European Darts Championship at the Westfalenhalle, provided that normal conditions can be restored at that time. It is also possible to have the amount paid out from January 01, 2022.

Session times for the event have been confirmed as follows:

Thursday October 29 (1600 CET)
16x First Round

Friday October 30

4x Second Round

Evening Session (2000 CET)
