The biggest darts event in the world has startet and the defending champion Michael van Gerwen is already in the third round of the 2020 William Hill World Darts Championship.

“Mighty Mike” met his fellow countryman Jelle Klaasen in the last game of the evening, who had to run for the second time after winning the opening match against Kevin Burness. And Klaasen won the first set, but then Michael van Gerwen found a better gear and took the next three sets in a row.

Kim Huybrechts is in the second round after a 3:2 victory over the young Dutchman Geert Nentjes. Huybrechts was 1:2 set behind. World Youth Champion Luke Humphries, who beat Devon Petersen 3-1, was also successful.
